Notice anything different? Along with our open house, Element’s new website officially went live today! But more about that later. There is a lot of fun stuff happening here today, and if you want to check it out, stop by from 3pm to 7pm. We’ll be having a live band, food, beverages, and some other great activities. Plus free swag!

President Barack Obama to Attend Open House

President of the United States, Barack Obama, was recently invited to be part of the mix at Element’s open house, taking place next week Thursday, August 12.

“Most employees thought it wouldn’t happen, but we received his RSVP today!” said Ross Atkinson. “I couldn’t believe it when I got it! It says, President Obama with an email and everything. Wow. This is awesome. But I don’t understand why he uses a Gmail account.”

“We knew it was a long shot, but we decided to do it anyway,” said Kiar Olson. “Which was a waste of postage. And actually he didn’t RSVP, I did. But I’m the most well known Barack Obama impersonator in the Green Bay area. Between us, I don’t think anyone will even notice that I’m not the real president. But especially don’t tell Ross, he’s the most excited out of anyone. He even bought a special case of Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss to give to him.”

Olson has been impersonating the president for four days and has made appearances at several local nursing homes. “It’s worked both times,” Olson stated.

Warning: The Element open house will most likely not have a Barack Obama impersonator, but there will definitely be live music, a T-shirt cannon, beer and other beverages, a pig roast, photo booth, and more! If you want to mix with us on August 12 from 3 to 7 pm, RSVP today!

400 MPG Earns First Place

We recently supported the Kimberly High School Supermileage Vehicle team as they reached victory in two fuel efficiency competitions. This year, the team competed at Wisconsin International Speedway in Kaukauna and Road America in Elkhart Lake. And they did great!

There was a first place finish for car 82, with an outstanding 314 mpg average at the W.I.R. event! During the Road America event, car 82 earned second place with an average of 320 mpg, and car 83 earned first place with an average of 400 mpg!

Everyone here at Element would like to extend their congratulations! It was our pleasure to help contribute to the future fabricators, designers, and engineers of Northeast Wisconsin.

NEW North Social Media Breakfast, #nnsmb 10, May 18, 2010

The next New North Social Media Breakfast will be held on May 18, 2010 at Titletown Brewing. It will be sponsored by the fabulous folks at Titletown!

The discussion will focus on the use of how local small businesses are using social media. We’ll share perspectives from several local small business who are involved in social media. Future locations will be announced about a month in advance of the noted event dates.

The New North Social Media Breakfast is provided to business professionals, both experienced and newcomers to social media, at no cost. Also, due to high interest, the New North Social Media Breakfast is implementing a new RSVP system for 2010 on EventBrite. To sign up for a breakfast, interested parties simply search “New North Social Media Breakfast” on EventBrite and order a free ticket.

Background: The New North Social Media Breakfast was founded in March 2009 by Dana VanDen Heuvel ofMarketing Savant in partnership with Weidert Group, Inc. and Element. The group of local professionals meet monthly, rotating between Green Bay and Appleton locations, to discuss how social media is impacting their businesses. To cater to the diverse needs of this growing group of professionals, the New North Social Media Breakfast has burst out of the coffee shop setting and into the community. The breakfast will now be held at various local businesses each month with a panel that will discuss how social media is impacting their industry.

We’re throwing down the gauntlet (whatever that is), and bringing forth a challenge: all clients, vendors, friends, and foes alike are hereby summoned to Element to engage in a table tennis battle royale (with cheese).

Team Element has gathered and studied pong styles from across the globe. And in 2010, we’re unleashing our own unique style of table tennis. We call it Pongo Libre, and it is marked by a lessened emphasis on the fundamentals (eye-hand coordination) and instead relies on an array of gravity-defying combat maneuvers, Mexican wrestling submission holds, and lightning-fast Fujian White Crane boxing. To opponents, we are known simply as “los loco pongadors.”

You may ask: “What’s in it for me?” “Is this a lawsuit waiting to happen?” “Is there a trophy?” Of course, there’s a frickin’ trophy! It’s over four feet tall, encrusted with shiny bits, and really heavy. You want the trophy? You WANT the trophy? YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TROPHY! (no, really … it’s hard to pick up).

Everything you need to know (and lots you don’t) regarding this epic, annual event will be announced shortly on the Element website. We’ve built the facility. We’ve got the paddles. Do you have the balls?
