When you walk into a business, the person at the front desk is usually the first person you interact with, and first impressions are important. But, of course, all the other things they do help the company run smoothly, too.
Between making our guests feel welcomed, assisting with staff onboarding, setting up meetings, communications routing, managing paperwork, and more, recent hire Katie Lloyd has a penchant for running offices and beyond. Having previous experience running an office and literal running, Katie has the energy and balance to keep up with a hectic pace while remaining calm and always pleasant.
Since receiving her degree in Business Management fifteen years ago, Katie has held a variety of accounting positions. When her longtime employer was sold to another company, Katie found herself looking for a new job. On her previous daily commute, she’d pass the Element building and wonder who we were. While job searching, she remembered her curiosity about our place and looked us up, only to discover we were hiring! The rest, as they say, is history. Let’s see what Katie thinks now that she’s here.
QUESTION: WHAT’S THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN MANAGING AN OFFICE?
Katie: Office DJ. By far. Every morning I stress about what music to play!
Q: DOES THE FRONT DESK EVER FEEL LIKE MISSION CONTROL? HOW DO YOU HANDLE ALL THAT POWER?
K: How do I handle all that power? I love that question. It makes me feel like I’m in charge here. I just do what I’m told!
Q: WHAT INSPIRES YOU OUTSIDE THE OFFICE?
K: My daughters inspire me. They make me want to be a better person. They are the reason I work hard and go, go, go. They are also the reason why I am always exhausted!
Q: WHAT’S SOMETHING YOUR CO-WORKERS MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?
K: I received the Best Female Athlete spoof award for my 1999 graduating senior class. I loved playing sports!
Having added “DJ” to her resume, Katie has already learned a lot during her time here. But seriously, our office is always running smoothly thanks to her management skills, attention to detail, and welcoming presence. We’re so glad to have her on the Element team.
Just please don’t play that one song anymore …
