All-star disc golfer. Avid basketball fan. Doting cat person. What more could you ask from Element’s newest team member? Oh, that he could bring a new level of video capabilities in-house? Well we’re all in luck, because he does that, too.
As the newest video production specialist on the block, Anders Goderstad brings a diverse video background to the agency, expanding our offerings to include motion graphics, corporate videos, testimonial videos, social videos, animations, how-to videos, and product videos (just to name a few)! Anders is already fully-integrated and has completed a few videos with plenty more in the works … been thinking about including video into your marketing initiatives? Contact us here.
Now, back to those cats … let’s learn a little bit more about Anders, his love of cats, and his magic basketball product.
Question: What sparked your interest in video?
Anders: Oddly enough, writing. I was originally pursuing a career in written communications and found myself wanting more visual influence in what I was doing, so I started exploring digital media communications. I lost a weekend in the blink of an eye learning how to shoot and edit my first video.
Q: What was the first video you ever shot and edited?
A: A fake “commercial” for a spray-on substance that makes you better at basketball.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration for shooting and editing techniques?
A: Literally everywhere. Movies, TV shows, commercials, internet videos … I like to think that, at the very least, a small nugget of inspiration can come from any given piece of creative expression. Video presents endless possibilities to communicate information and emotion, and I can’t help but dive in to understand how people create and learn from it.
Q: What is the craziest thing that you’ve ever caught on camera?
A: A giant fire being started and then put out in the same room I was filming in. I had to wear a big silver suit for protection.
Q: We know you’re a cat person. Do you wish your cats could speak human?
A: Goodness, no. I can’t imagine how impossible it would be to reason with a cat. We’d probably just argue, and I’d lose … and then somehow end up homeless saying I should have gotten a dog.
Q: We’ve also heard you’re a big basketball fan. If you could have a one-on-one match with any player, past or present, who would it be?
A: Stephen Curry, point guard for the Golden State Warriors. I was a fan of him as a college player and a fan of the Warriors while I was growing up, so when they drafted him, I became even more of a fan. He’s also pretty undersized for a basketball player, so he and I have something in common. Although, I’m obviously not as good as he is.
Q: As the weather warms up, summer is on all of our minds. What are your favorite summer hobbies?
A: Disc golf (aka frisbee golf), softball, soccer, basketball, biking … Can I consider drinking beer outside a hobby?
We know your video capabilities are on fire, Anders, but we’re glad it didn’t happen literally. Welcome to the team!
